About Diagnostic Radiology

Radiology is a medical speciality which makes use of imaging technology for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that are visualised inside the body. Various imaging technologies are used during the diagnosis through radiology. Oncology Radiology

Specialists that are known as radiation oncologist are involved in the treatment of cancer. Various ionizing radiations are used in this treatment such as radionuclide and megavoltage X-ray. Radiation oncologists are known to work along with other physicians such as internal medicine specialists, surgical oncologists etc. They combined form a multi-disciplinary cancer diagnostic team.

Emergency Purpose Radiologists

Emergency cases are comprised of broken bones, head traumas, fractures etc. When a patient experiences a sudden pain the disease is analysed by radiology technology. The two essential parts of this technology are diagnostic X-ray and MRI. Emergency rooms are available in hospitals for such kind of treatments. 


Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology is also known as surgical radiology. Such diagnostic radiology involves the treatment of almost all the organs with the help of image processing technique. Least invasive techniques are used in interventional radiology which minimises the risk to the diseased and subsequently improves the health of a patient. It helps in managing the pain and assisted by biopsies as well as fluid drainage. A diagnostic process involved in this technique is fluoroscopy. A fluid is transferred throughout the effected parts by the radiologist and then the analysation of the passage is done. This is known for the accurate analysis of the diseases.

Apart from these many other are also available which are the result of advancing technology. The use of diagnostic radiology has increased a lot because no other technique can analyse and detect the problem inside body so well. The two main radiographic images performed are projection radiography and fluoroscopy. They are less expensive as compared to 3-D tomography. The role of radiologists is increasing day by day with a great extent. Not only this technique of diagnostic radiology helps in better analysation but also helps in decreasing the workload in hospitals. In the near future, it will be available in almost all the hospitals.
