WHAT IS FACILITY MANAGEMENT – 


Facility Management (FM) is one of the effective systems of management which includes the coordination of space, infrastructure, people, process and technology. The main role of facility management is to support and maintain the core organisational activities.

CATAGORIES OF FACILITY MANAGEMENT – 


A well-experience professional personal - Barrett and Owen (1992) described two categories of facility management according to function analysis. The two categories of FM are OPERATIONAL FUNCTIONS and MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS. 

Operation functions can be defined as day-to-day activities of an organization. Such everyday activities include operation, physical resources and environment. The appropriate arrangements of such activities are the bedrock to strengthen the process of facility management. 

Management functions are action plans. These functions can be differentiated into two levels namely tactical level and strategic level. Tactic level consists of routine, short-term preventive, specific and managerial operations. Strategic level is required to manage the unknown changing in the process of organization management. Both are essential to manage the present and future situation of the organization.
