Find Nursing Jobs in London

If you have been looking for nurse assistant jobs in London, do not be worried because there is no dearth of jobs for this position in the country. The key to deciding the type of nurse assistant job that you should look for yourself and to nail it quickly is to first know where it is that you would like to work. There are two types of nurse assistant jobs, namely, long-term care facility and hospital.

Even though the basic expectations or rules of working for both are the same, the demands as well as environments are slightly different. Most places in London have at least two hospitals within a reasonable travelling distance and several long-term care facilities. The number of nurse assistant jobs that are available in both these setting is generally great because of the high demand for skilled healthcare professionals.

Nurse assistant jobs in a hospital tend to move at a faster pace; nurse assistants at hospitals tend to always be on their feet so as to attend emergency tasks that arrive without a prior intimation. The nurse assistants generally work in similar unites or floors each day, but they can move to other shifts of other nurse assistants if they are familiar with the area of work. This allows for a great degree of continuity in the nurse assistant jobs. Specific job related duties  may vary between departments or units depending on the different variables like type of care that is needed and the set of guidelines for the particular unit.

Considering that patients in a hospital remain in the facility for a short time, the relationship between the nurse assistant as well as the patients is therefore, different from that which exists in a long-term care facility. In a hospital, the nurse assistants do not really have the chance to learn or gain expertise in understanding the needs and emotions of a patient. Therefore, the nurse assistant should be adaptable in a hospital environment. Those people who stay in the hospital tend to rarely be satisfied with their job and therefore, being a nurse assistant in a hospital requires one to have lots of patients and tolerance.

This, however, does not mean that that long-term facilities do not have hectic working hours. The pace, however, tends to be more predictable than in a hospital. The nurse assistants know their patients closely because they would be attending to all of them day in and day out. Most patients in a long-term facility tend to be staying in the facility for a long time. The residents of such facilities have to be taken through hygiene procedures, be assisted to the dining room and dressed. Usually a nurse assistance at a long-term care facility is assigned 10 patients. It is important for the  nurse assistant to realise that she/he is a major part of the resident’s home in a long-term care facility.

The biggest difference between the job of a nurse assistant in a hospital and one in a long-term care facility is the establishment of relationships as well as routine.
